Lake County IL newborn photos

If you’ve known me for long, you know that newborn photos are my absolute favorite. Sure, I love outdoor sessions at sunset, but there’s something about the sweet newness of a newborn that just makes me super happy. Maternal instinct? Maybe. Or maybe it’s the details that go along with keeping a newborn happy while being posed at the same time. I promise you it’s way harder than it looks and in fact, I almost gave them up at one point because it was so hard! I’m so happy I stuck it out and continued learning, because it’s amazing!!!

When this family arrived, the new big brother was SO exited. “It’s MY baby” and “Let me hold him” were two things I heard often. He was SO in love!!! When I took him away, I could see a little bit of anxiousness set in that a stranger was now taking his new brother away into another room. He followed me right into the camera room to watch what I was doing. When he saw his brother was perfectly safe with me and being wrapped up, he was content and walked away. Of course, he would pop in every now and again juuuuust to be sure I was on my best behavior with his new brother (spoiler alert: he was fine).

When it finally was time for sibling photos, I could not peel him away! Scroll down and you’ll see what I mean. He wanted to continue to touch him, kiss him, and have his hands on him in some form or another. So sweet!

It was so great meeting this family – I honestly loved working with them and getting to know them!

I am stocked with all the wraps, fabrics, blankets, bonnets/hats/tiebacks you need, so all you need to do it show up (with a baby of course).

Since newborns are photographed soon after they are born, I always recommend booking your newborn session as soon as you can during your 2nd or early 3rd trimester. I schedule about 4 newborns a month, so booking early and before baby is born is key! Of course if my schedule has an opening I will do my best to work you in after they are born, but newborn photos are done when they are about 2 weeks old so that timing is key! Book now knowing its one less thing to worry about or forget later – pregnancy brain is a thing!!
