Newborn Photography

There’s a certain newborn-ness that bursts on the scene, then vanishes quickly. Downy hair, squishy lips, irresistible wrinkles, sleepy stillness, that little face exactly as you first glimpsed it – all these things change almost overnight as they swiftly grow, plump, wake up, and explore their world. Catch them in the first two weeks, and you’ll get photos you can’t get at any other time. I make this simple to do, even as you adjust to your new role as a parent!

How It Works:

1. Reserve your window of time.
When you book, I reserve a window around your due date. Because of the importance of this timing, I recommend you contact me as soon as you feel comfortable booking. For most people, it’s the beginning of the second trimester. I can only accept a small number of newborn sessions per month, so please do not wait to schedule!

2. Relax while I photograph your baby.
When your newborn arrives we’ll set an appointment for you. All newborn sessions happen in the coziness of my private Lake Zurich studio. As a mom of two, I fully understand the blur of the early days, so all you have to do is come – everything you need is already here. From fabrics to wraps to gorgeous bows and bowls, it’s all sanitized and ready to go. For tired parents, you’ll find comfortable couches and snacks. You’re welcome to watch me work, but you may find yourself wanting to sleep or watch TV. You will be the only ones here. Older siblings will enjoy the nearby parks and diner, and I also have toys here. If you’d like a few images of them with new baby, I recommend having a grandparent or helper bring them toward the end, so their wonder and excitement about this new event will be fresh.
And let me assure you – I have studied and practiced the art (and safety) of newborn photography for almost a decade. Yes, I can get images like this of your baby, too! Please do not worry about whether they will sleep, or how you will feed them. My studio provides the warmth, white noise, and bag of tricks I need to ease them to dreamland, and you will have a private space for you to feed as needed. The session will truly feel like a break for you while I handle everything.

3. View images and order prints.
One to two weeks after your session, you’ll return to the studio to see 20-30 final images, select your favorites for printing, and place your order.

Instead of looking through an online gallery at home, feeling uncertain, and taking weeks or months to debate what to do – you come in once, I give expert help and design service, and you’re out the door in under an hour. Printing options include natural wood frames and modern albums; things you can’t get from drugstore or big online retailers. In-person ordering is of the best parts of my services, as you’ll feel confident in your selections and receive gorgeous,
unique display items swiftly!

Pricing: A $175 retainer is due upon booking to reserve your due date window. Digital-only packages range from $475-$700. Packages with prints and digitals start at $725. You don’t need to decide now – when it’s time to order, you’ll have a chance to handle examples and I’ll help you think through how you want to enjoy the images 5-10 years from now. (If you also booked a maternity session with me, you’ll receive a complimentary $75 credit toward your newborn packages.)
Booking Tips: Because I can only accept a few newborn sessions per month, I strongly recommend contacting me early in your second trimester to book!
My studio also offers a “Golden Year” package to capture sitting, walking (including a cake smash), and a family session during baby’s first year. Clients who booked a maternity or newborn session with me will receive a complimentary $100 print credit with each of their Golden Year sessions. Something to keep in mind!
