How exciting for this beautiful family! They came to my studio so excited for photos and I was just as excited for them. We chatted for awhile and hit it right off the bat! Dad is also a business owner, so having that little connection is fun for me. Their baby boy had this perfect amount of peach fuzz hair and some squishy little lips. He was also big into moaning and stretching. All babies that come into my studio have different characteristics – some make beeping noises, some grunt, some burry their heads, some are super quiet – and this dude was no exception to that. Lot of stretches and lots of moaning. Such a guy, haha.

He also gave me the sweetest smile at one point. I’d love to say that it was all me, but we all know what really causes those smiles. Poop. Or gas. Take your pick.

I cannot wait to see them again for their 6 month session! It’s hard to believe this little peanut will be sitting up and no longer a little baby the next time I see him.

With a studio in downtown Lake Zurich, Illinois, I photograph families throughout Lake County and Cook County including Barrington, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Long Grove, Vernon Hills, and several others. Since 2009 I have been creating custom artwork for families that become treasured heirlooms within their homes. My studio is filled with props, clothes, and more for maternity, newborn, and milestone sessions. For families, I photograph outdoors at sunset and will guide you all along the way with wardrobe styling and prep guides.

Beautiful fall day with a beautiful family of four! I last saw them for their daughter’s newborn photos, so it was amazing to see how big she has gotten since then! Their oldest is a little ham, making all sorts of fun faces and expressions for me. His sister was a bit more cautious, but that comes with the young 1 year old territory. Enough cuddle with mom, dad, and brother helps to make it all better. And snacks. Lots of snacks, haha.

We met at these docks in a quiet part of Lake County. I adore this spot in the fall and have to be careful to not overuse it. In the summer there are mosquitoes all over because of the marina, which then absolutely LOVE to bite me to no end. I spray my body and my clothes and they do not care. Meanwhile the families I am photographing look like perfection since I am such a magnet. So once the cool weather hits and the bugs go away, I am all about using this spot. Plus we basically had it to ourselves for this photo session, so it made for a fairly peaceful evening together. Love it all!

Plus mom used my fun wardrobe planner service to get some ideas of what she and her family could wear. (She could have bought clothes directly through it, too) Easy stuff!

I’ve gotten incredibly lucky that I have enjoyed working with every single family that comes into my studio. I’ve been doing this roughly 10 years, so being able to say that is really something. The M family is totally chill and so in love with their baby boy, I could tell right away that they were my people. Plus, they trusted me to do “whatever”, which is always a nice compliment. Dad is also a local business owner, so its nice to have that connection, as well.

And honestly, if all babies slept like this guy I could do newborn sessions all. day. long. Right now I can manage only 1 a day, and 1 maaaaybe 2 a week. They’re pretty physically taxing – I joke they’re like a 2-3 hour long hot yoga session and I’m sore for the following day. But this guy didn’t make me bend into weird positions for him to get into or hold a pose, so thank you for being an amazing, sleepy baby! They’re a gorgeous and fun family, so I am super happy I get to see them again for 6 month and 1 year photos, too. I mean seriously – look at this perfect baby’s face!

Trust me when I saw newborn sessions are my favorite! My studio is overflowing with so many props and other things for these sessions that all you need to do is bring me your baby. I will take care of everything else for you. My cozy studio is in downtown Lake Zurich IL and I work with families throughout Barrington, Palatine, Deerfield, Northbrook, Vernon Hills, Libertyville, and Highland Park (just to name a few).

Newborn photo sessions take place when baby is roughly 2 weeks old and I accept a few each month, so booking your session during your 2nd or 3rd trimester before baby’s due date is so important! Of course if baby is here don’t freak out – if I can squeeze your guys in I will, but I cannot promise it.

Schaumburg IL family photographer

I am pretty sure I just did this family’s newborn photos a week before this cloudy, early fall session, but nope! Here we are for her 6 month photos in Schaumburg, IL. It is crazy how fast that time goes by.

Once again, this family nailed the wardrobe (yaaaay). I like to pretend it’s all me prepping them with ideas and I’ll just stick with that. But seriously, they are perfection and have a super adorable little girl, to boot! I swear in every other frame she was sticking her tongue out at me which made culling a blast. I had to be extra careful to be sure included photos with it IN.

I was so worried it was going to rain on us during this session. In fact I am pretty sure I had already rescheduled it from earlier in the week due to rain so I was going to do what it took to not reschedule again (I know how it is prepping for a photo session). And while I love a good sunflare, no sun and a high chance of rain created some super dramatic skies for us, instead. So pretty! I am pretty sure it began drizzling as we drove away at the end, so it was perfect timing!

I am lucky that I will get to see this family 1 more time for her 1 year photos. I love when parents opt for the the newborn, 6 month, and 1 year session so I get to know them better and see their kiddo grow. Plus, the parents have that grown professionally documented for her as she gets older – something she is seriously going to appreciate for the decades to come.
