It’s baby Logan, ya’ll! This is my friend’s sweet baby boy (her second boy) and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better newborn to work with. He was totally chill and mellow and it made posing him a breeze. I’ve photographed his big brother several times, including his newborn photos. But throw a newborn baby into the mix and I never know what to expect. Will they be happy? Bouncing off the wall excited? Sad? Mad? Feeling left out? Or tired (like mom and dad)?

Luckily, Brody was feeling it and absolutely loved being with his new little brother for some photos. I am in love with the photos of them together and couldn’t be prouder of him for being such an awesome big brother. Plus mom and dad let me do whatever I wanted when it came to colors and sets, so that’s always extra fun for me!

Downtown Lake Zurich, IL is where you can find my studio, however I photograph growing families from all throughout Lake and Cook Counties. I have everything cleaned and ready for you at my studio – just show up (with your baby),relax, and I’ll do all the work. Booger cookies | family photographer Chicago

Another fun family session in the books! I adore all the families that I get to photograph in the Chicagoland area, but new families are always so fun. They get to see my craziness in action for the first time, which is always a treat. I act like such a fool to get the kids to smile and relax and talk about some of the most ridiculous things.

Tonight’s topic? Booger cookies. I honestly question how these things pop into my head. But the kids found it funny so I ran with it.

Seeing how fun they were I just knew the photos are going to turn out great. It was buggy (duh, this was a summer session so they’re always annoying), but man that light was amazing!!! It was this nice, hazy, kinda cloudy sunset that made for a dramatic sunset. Plus, what a beautiful family! They totally rolled with my ideas and I am loving how everything came out.

As the mom said I love them ALL! And I never have liked ALL photos anyone has ever taken. It makes my hear so happy to hear that – I put so much love into my work so she totally solidified what I do. Thank you!

I met this momma a few weeks before she was due at my studio. We chatted about some ideas she had, to get to know each other, and to talk more details on what to expect. This is a very special baby and I was so flattered they trusted me to photograph her! It’s totally not required because I’m a prop hoarder, but she had some specific items she wanted that she brought along with her to my studio the day of her session. They were items that had a lot of meaning and I was happy to work them into the photos for her. I (and mom) was expecting her to be born early, but of course that wasn’t the case. Haha. I should have known better!

Seriously, though. They were the sweetest family with a beautiful baby girl. She is going to be so loved by her mom and dad! Check out some photos below from her time with me.

For the past 9 years I have been to lucky that I get to snuggle with babies as part of my job. And the fact that families put their faith in me to create something special means so much! Lake County IL family photography

Meet the O family. Doug and I have known each other since college where we were both art education majors. There was a small group of us that bonded together over art projects, classwork, teaching assignments…and then of course we hung out outside classes where we all just “clicked”. It’s funny that very few of us in that group are still teaching, but at least we’re all using the art side of our degree in some capacity.

We lost touch over the years – I think the last time I saw him was at my wedding. We’re friends on Facebook, but he’s one that doesn’t post much of anything…so when he contacted me about photographing their 6 month old I was beyond excited! Not only would I get to meet his wife but also his daughter (who is stinkin’ cute, by the way). They’re perfect and a beautiful family of three. And their daughter has got some chunk on her which is my absolute favorite to see on kids at this age. The fat dimples stop being cute as we get older, you know?

It’s that time of year – fall sessions are in full swing. As I write this, I have only a handful of dates remaining for those interested in a session this year. My outdoor photos start about an hour before sunset and take place in the northwest Chicago suburbs. If you live in or near Lake Zurich, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Hawthorn Woods, Libertyville, Chicago, or Barrington, I have a perfect location for you! Plus I promise to act like a fool to make your kiddos like me, so you’ll have that entertainment during your session to look forward to.
