family photography

This sweet peanut is one year?  GET OUT!  She’s the third sweet child of this family I’ve had the amazing honor of photographing since she was born.  Family photography is such a fun way to visually see the personality difference between each family member.  That connection is what I love to see and aim to photograph during family photos.  We skipped the whole cake smash thing and just focused on her, her family, and her big brothers.  She was sassy and sweet – you’ll see it all in the first four photos below.

If you’ve been to my studio. you’ve seen the large black and white canvas right as you come in the front door.  You’ll see him all grown up, below!

Family photography sessions are always popular, but this fall is always the crazy season.  It feels cheesy for me to type that last sentence, but it’s true.  The back to school rush mixed with fall colors = photographer mad house.  If you’d like to get on my calendar, I suggest you do it NOW.  I have about 5 dates still available for October, and a few more than that for November and September.  I specialize in wall art, but I do the digital thing as well, so don’t worry!  You can do both, too!

To book your family photo session, please contact me to chat about the details and to set a date.  My outdoor sunset sessions are done in Lake Zurich and the surrounding Chicago suburbs such as Libertyville, Barrington, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Deer Park, and more.  My downtown Lake Zurich studio is also an option for those not wanting an outdoor setting or that want to book a newborn photography session.

I think I am close to needing more than 2 hands to count the number of times I’ve photographed this family.  They’re always such a fun bunch, too.  Actually, the poor little one was somewhat sick and on some meds that made him sooooo sleepy for this session.  She came out of the car dead asleep and slept through the first 10 minutes or so of the session.  He eventually woke up and was all smiles for us!  Whew!  I know I’m grouchy when I wake up, so I’m glad he was good to go.

Hands down, they had a beautiful night, a beautiful session, and beautiful photos.

Schaumburg, and others all through the area.

I’d love to get to know you and photograph your crazy bunch, as well.  Contact me to chat, get more information, or to schedule your family photos!

Well isn’t this pregnant mom stunning?  I mean, just jaw-dropping, right?  I’ve known this family for a number of years, so it’s always fun for me to photograph friends!  But this mom wanted some “wow”.  She came to the studio a few weeks before her session to dig through my clothes and narrow down what she wanted to wear.  She whittled it down to two and the dat of her session, we decided on the yellow.  Totally gorgeous.  Plus our strange, cloudy evening made for some extra dramatic photos.  AKA perfection!

Maternity sessions are best to book during your 2nd trimester (and its also the perfect time to book your newborn session, as well).  I photograph those bellies around the 34-36ish week mark so your belly is round and perfect. My studio is overflowing with dresses, gowns, and top to select from that would be perfect for you. Of course, if you’d rather wear your own items that is absolutely no problem! I do indoor maternity at my Lake Zurich, IL studio or I photograph outdoors just before sunset in the surrounding areas like Barrington, Libertyville, Arlington Heights, Kildeer, Long Grove, and other nearby Chicago suburbs.  ‘

Wall Gallery Design

Ok, so I did a thing.

Wall gallery design is way tricky and can be overwhelming.  I get it.  But its something I love to do is design them for families and I would love to share what I know with YOU.  I have access to a wide variety of frames and display materials – with my art background creating wall galleries come second nature to me!  In fact, my displays aren’t always photographs (or photographs I’ve taken).  Some families have specific things they want displayed that I did not create, but they are having trouble deciding on how to display it or what would be best when it comes to display options.

Things to think about when designing your gallery:

•  Where to create your display

•  How you want to display it (single image or grouping).

• What you want displayed (all photos?  or a mixture of items?)

(below are some photos from my client’s homes)

When it comes to babies, creating a gallery for them can be somewhat tricky because of how quickly they change and leave that newborn stage.  Creating a wall gallery than can grow with them and expand as they get older is a great way to address this!  You can do this by leaving frames empty (put unique patterned or textured paper or cloth in them while you wait for your baby to get older to fill those additional frames) or by creating shadow boxes to display little trinkets of theirs.

I have created a free guide to help you with exactly this!  These are tips and tricks that I utilize for my families and I wanted to pass it onto you.

All I need is your email (and check your spam folder or promotions folder for it and add me to your safe-senders list so you actually get it).
