I am so lucky to get to work with the families I photograph. My style is laid back and relaxed and when a family comes to me with the same vibe and wanting the same in their sessions, I am in my happy place. This session took place in early fall, but I kind of love how it looks like a fall session with the colors. We had a super red-orange sunset which helped to add to that feeling since it reflected off the yellow grass.

Little man wasn’t so sure of me in the beginning (typical stranger danger), but he did warm up as the session went on. He has pretty eyes (can I say a boy has pretty eyes???) and loved how much eye contact her gave me so I could photograph them clearly. His parents warned me he wasn’t super stable sitting up, but right at the end he sat up for a long period of time like a champ! So proud!

First birthday photographer Palatine IL

What a sweet first birthday boy. He wasn’t a fan of the cake, but he was totally into the balloons. Because duh, those are way better than cake.

You’ll learn, kid. You’ll learn.

Fun story: I actually met this family through my daughter’s preschool. This guy’s sister and my daughter are friends and get along really well! The family also owns Odyssey Play Place in Palatine, which is a great indoor play place for kids. It’s imaginative play with dress up, toys, story time, and even special visits from some of your kid’s favorite characters. It’s new and definitely worth checking out. My daughter has gone a few times and is always asking to go back. And if you look carefully on their website, you’ll see a lot of my photos I did for them right as they were opening their space. I am thinking some of these would be great to hang in their party area, so we’ll see what I come up with.

Even though he wasn’t a fan of cake (check out the bribery we stuck into his cake in some of the frames to convince him to eat something), he was still so cute and happy! And sometimes, that’s just how the sessions go. More cake for the parents once they get home!

Vernon Hills IL photographer

Here’s another family I’ve gotten to photograph numerous times in the past year. I first met them for this guys newborn session and his big sister had always wished for a unicorn and a baby, so I’m thrilled her parents got her something she was wanting. Haha. I mean, those unicorns are cool and all. But I think a little baby is much better.

Can we talk about his hair for a second? He had some epic hair at his newborn session (and still had it all when I saw them near Christmas). But look at how much he has, now! Talk about some thick. luscious locks on this boy. I loved that little curl that popped out from the little hat (one of the many outfits I have at the studio for the kids that come in).

His big sister has so much love for him, and I can tell the feeling is mutual. ~~She would stand by me and he would just smiiiiiile and smile at her~~. I mean it was all me. I’m magic.

Photographer Deer Park IL

Oh my, sweet little B. Here he was back in the studio, just 2 months after his last session I blogged. 10 months old.

He’s now at the fun stage of pulling up to stand. Or, as us moms call it, the stage where we have to hide everything off of ledges. Ya know, parenting. Sitting and scooting was still his jam, but once he saw that chair he was all about pulling up. Such a big milestone!!!

In 2 months he’s already started to thin out a bit with how active he now is, but he still has those sweet, expressive eyes I love so much. And for sure, he’s still a happy, smily, drooley boy!

Naturally, he came in all stylish. But we snuck in one of the studio’s outfits at the end. He broke in a brand new one and I loved the vintage touch it brought to his photos.
