I first met this family last fall when I did my holiday jammie sessions. Their girls were so sweet and I was happy to photograph them a few months later in my studio. Plus, I was able to break in some of the studio’s new stuff. A fun couch and some special dresses for the little ones that want to wear something special for their photos. They loved “dressing like a princess” and I was happy what I had purchased fit them.

Check out that little pixy pony tail on the littlest one. Dad called her “bam bam” and if any of you are old enough to know the reference, he was so right! She was a spunky one and really expressive. Her older sister was more shy bu was happy to do anything I asked. They were awesome to photograph!

After their ordering session, I was so excited to see one of my newest products arrive – the circle wood print. Mom had her heart set on one so I cannot wait to see where she has it hung up in her home.

Wardrobe help (i.e. the cream and pink dresses are the studio’s), custom product help and ordering after the session, sets revolved around what you want and what match your style, not what was handy the day you came in. I get to know you before your session takes place so that what I photograph matches you.

Most sessions are booked weeks in advance 0 this allows for proper planning and preparation on both of our ends. Newborn sessions are book as early as you’re comfortable which is usually early 2nd trimester. Those babies are photographed when they are less than 2 weeks old, so waiting to book once they are born usually means my schedule is fully booked. Indoor and newborn sessions are held in Golden Photography’s downtown Lake Zurich, IL studio. She serves families all throughout the area including Grayslake, Deer Park, Kildeer. Hawthorn Woods, Long Grove, Mundelein, Inverness, Barrington, Libertyville, and more in the NW Chicago suburbs. Outdoor sessions are held in the Lake County IL and Cook County IL vicinity.

We 100% lucked out with this session in downtown Long Grove, IL. It was mid Feb and it was unusually warm, so I was thrilled to be outdoors after a winter of shooting inside! We also had an amazing sunset, so I am glad we were stuck outside and not freezing during the session. My main job was to photograph their daughter, but also get a few family photos, as well. They were a super chill, laid-back family and were so much fun for me! Plus I got to create a large, hand-carved framed print for them, so I was thrilled to see it when it arrived at my house.

Plus, her dress. How princess-like can one little girl be? She is so spunky and I loved getting to know her personality during the session. It makes my job so much fun when I get to play along with them while I photograph them. I really enjoyed seeing the sibling love they had. I think it’s too early for the rivalry to start, right?

As a Chicago baby photographer, I had another sweet newborn baby boy was in my studio. Boy, did he ever make me work – but it was worth it! I’ve been in contact with this family for quite some time leading up to this session, so I was beyond thrilled to finally have them in my studio and get to know them. He honestly had the best little lips – I knew the second I saw them I would have to get a great detail shot of them!

His little smirk right there on the last photo – he knew he was making me work and just had to give me that. Haha. But it’s all worth it, for me because this tiny newborn age is so special. And they change SO fast – parents are always amazed and how quickly they change from this photo session to the following month. I’ll see this family again in the fall, so I definitely cannot wait to see how much he has changed!

Before I dive in, let’s talk about booking your session. Summer and fall booking is in full swing. Families, newborns, everything! That means if you want a session now – December, please contact me ASAP to book your spot. October and November is already full, but the other months still have a few dates available. Sessions are usually outdoors in the Lake County and Cook County, area.

For newborns, you should book as soon as you’re comfortable and for most, that’s second trimester. Newborns are photographed within 2 weeks of being born, so in order to secure your spot it is important you book well before baby arrives (as opposed to after, when I may not have availability for you). Newborn sessions are held in my Lake Zurich, IL studio where I have everything I need for your baby’s photos at my fingertips.

Anywhoooo, back to this session. I’ve photographed this family since kiddo #1 was a newborn. And here we are with #2 as a 1 year old! Birthday boy was so happy and hammed it up for me.

Afterwards we headed inside for the best part – the cake smash! I just have to laugh. This guy loved his cake, no doubt about it. But he wanted NOTHING to do with getting it on his hands. Mom and dad to the rescue!

I loved seeing this family and creating a super special order for them, afterwards. They updated some frames they had ordered from me previously as well as added to their mini book collection (my favorite). Creating custom items from their photos is one of my favorite things to do! Maybe someday I’ll do a post of photos my families have sent into me of how they used their photos to decorate their homes. Hmmmmm….
