Aaaah the amazing one year session. That moment your baby officially graduates the baby stage and is in full-on toddler mode. They have BIG personalities, BIG laughs, and of course, BIG meltdowns to match. It’s an awesome age and for me, a little bittersweet. It means they’ve graduated my grow-with-me plan and I won’t see them every few months like I had that first year. Lucky for me, this is my best friend’s daughter so I know I’ll get to see her all the time.

We did some typical studio shots, but then mom busted out a tutu that was hers when she was little. So liu of a smashcake she opted for this rainbow tutu and pearls, which was pretty fun. We then popped right outside the studio to brave the cold for some more photos.

Spring and summer sessions are quickly being filled with nearly every single weekend already booked. The good news? Outdoor sessions are done an hour before sunset, so for the summer they are easy to squeeze in after work on a typical weekday. With only a handful of sessions remaining between now and the end of June, now is the time to contact me if you’re needing to schedule your session. My private studio is located in downtown Lake Zurich, IL. However outdoor sessions take place throughout Lake and Cook Counties.

Family and milestone sessions are usually booked 3 months in advance and newborn sessions are booked during mom’s second trimester. Of course I do everything I can to accommodate families on shorter notice, but the sooner you contact me, the better your chances of me having availability. stacy@golden-photography.net

With this family’s second sweet girl coming into the studio I couldn’t have been more excited. I’ve known this family since college and they’ve been with my studio since the very beginning. Their 1st born was one of my first newborns, too! That was back when my studio was still in my home and I had to do the whole flight of the bumblebee cleaning before each session. Jenna is a few months older than my daughter and we all have an undying love for anything Disney. Actually, this one’s mom and I both have brothers that work for the company. And her dad and my husband were in the same fraternity. Oh, and we’re all downstaters originally. So this family and my own definitely have a lot of common ties!

Anywho, its fun to photograph someone’s baby #2 because the vibe is very much different. That’s not to say they’re any better or worse than 1st time moms, but all of us with kids know how we are the 1st time around. We worry. And we worry a lot. And we’re tired. And hormonal. 2nd time families have the routine down and have some idea of what to expect. Especially for photos, they have the routine down and know what to expect once they’re here. And the fact that a family wants to come back again (and again and again) it makes me beyond happy more than I could ever express to them. Plus, I enjoy seeing them grow up with me. We just scheduled this sweet ones 6 month photos (and her sister’s 5 year photos)!

Best newborn photographer in Illinois

If you’re expecting I would love to photograph your new baby! Babies are best photographed when they are less than 2 weeks old, so I can’t stress how important it is to book before they are here! Newborn photography sessions are booked as early as you’re comfortable, usually at the start of the second trimester. All newborn sessions are held in my private studio located in downtown Lake Zurich, IL where I supply everything you need for the session. My clients span across the Lake County and Cook County areas including Libertyville, Barrington, Highland Park, Inverness, Chicago, Schaumburg, and more.

I had another sweet, sweet baby nugget in the Lake Zurich studio. She had a glorious head of hair, which makes it so much fun for me. I love me some fiiiiine baby hair. Typically I’m a big neutrals person and I tend to stick with that. But I know her mom mentioned purple and I had some nice muted purple colors in my stash that I just had to use.

Sidenote: I wanted to drop a quick reminder that if you are pregnant and looking for a maternity and/or a newborn photographer, please book your session well before baby is born! Especially newborn sessions – I specialize in newborn photography and pregnant moms contact me early in the second trimester to book their sessions and some contact me even sooner if they are comfortable! I only have room for a handful each month so these sessions book extremely early and extremely quickly. My private studio is in downtown Lake Zurich and you will have full access to everything I have to offer, from hats to wraps to props. That means you show up and relax while I work. Easy stuff!

Anywho, baby I was so good to me and was game for nearly whatever pose I put her into. Check out her lips on the macro shots a few images down.

And the small world that this is, I met baby I’s dad’s cousin in college! Say that three times fast. She messaged me about it after I first posted a few photos on my Facebook page.

So here’s two firsts – new family, new location. And I loved them both! Naturally I love meeting new people. I enjoy feeling out their personalities over the phone and email. This mom was so sweet and was all about getting things perfect. We went back and forth over the months leading up to her session with clothing ideas, location ideas, and more. The location (thanks to Google maps) was literally behind some stores where she lived in Homer Glen. I got there way early to walk around and I couldn’t believe how amazing it was! There was a little pond, small patches of trees, and then a cornfield. I kid you not! I’m from downstate so I’m used to them being all over the place. But not in the middle of the Chicago suburbs!

Anywho, her girls were amazingly sweet. And the whole family was photogenic, so that is doubly amazing for me. Their session was amazingly fun. Plus, check out our sunset!

Homer Glen family photographer Golden Photography Lake Zurich IL The littlest needed some snuggles by the end. But its just the sweetest thing! Its one of my favorite things about sunset sessions – when the kids just need those cuddles riiiiiight at the end. Oh, and the sinker face. Love!
